We are looking to cast multiple parts in the feature film MEMORA, based on the short film of the same name. Memora (short) was created in less than 48 hours in 2022 for the 48 Hour Film Project: Los Angeles. In the LA 48 (the 48 Hour Film Project festival city with the highest level competition), Memora took 3rd place overall as well as Best Directing, Best Cinematography, Best Set Design, Best Trailer, Audience Choice, as well as nominations in Best Writing, Best Musical Score, Best Editing, and Best Sound Design. The cast and crew had an incredible experience in creating this demanding short and the common feedback we received from viewers was: I WANT MORE! An idea on how to expand the short into a feature struck the writer and the feature-length screenplay of MEMORA was born. It builds upon the unique concept and strengths of the short but offers fun twists and turns for the audience with compelling characters everyone will connect with on an emotional level. Logline: A peace-loving nomad connected to a brain-computer interface is restrained by the callous consciousness of a deceased scientist stuck in his head. He must traverse both a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and a plane of memories, for a solution to fix the dying world.
Production Schedule and Locations:
Pre-production is underway and will complete in August. The production will be very ‘guerilla-style’ and we’ll mostly shoot on sporadic weekends between August and December. The primary shooting location will be in the High Desert area in Southern California.
Casting:
We are looking for actors of various ethnic backgrounds. Please provide a headshot or photograph of yourself, a reel (if you have one), a list of acting experience, and which role(s) you’re interested in. We will provide a section of the script for a video audition and additional callbacks will include table reads with various actors.
BRYCE: Male. Pre-Casted
ALAN SHARPE: Male. Pre-Casted
ACADIA: Female. Pre-Casted
EMMA SHARPE: 20-25 Female. The young adult daughter of a famous scientist. Well-spoken with wisdom beyond her years.
ROCKY: 25-40 Male. A post-apocalyptic survivor helping Bryce on his quest to heal the broken world. Strong fighter.
SARGE: 30-40 Male: The leader of the Droughters, a group who collects water for survivors in the wasteland by whatever means necessary.
SIERRA: 25-40 Female. A tough slugger who is the muscle behind the Droughters.
MAN OF GRIEF: 40+ Male. A wasteland survivor trying to make his way in the world.
CLEVELAND: 25-50 Male. A ‘Diver’ (someone who has mastered a device known as a Neuro-Processing Unit and can link his consciousness to other Divers in the wasteland).
ACE: 25-50 Male. Cleveland’s partner and protector.
SEEZER: Male or female. 50+ A survivor who was around before the apocalyptic event and was always tech-savvy. They never leave their chair in their lair and uses technology to control the minds of their servants.
HIGHWAYMAN LEADER: 25-40 Male. The leader of a ruthless band of raiders who fiercely protect their land. Descendant of military family and customs.
CLAN LEADER: 50+ Female. The leader of a clan who lived in the era before the apocalypse. A born-leader.
HIGHWAYMEN: Age 18+ Male or Female. 2 Highwaymen following the Highwayman Leader. Heavy combat roles.
MARCUS HICKS: Any Age Male. Assistant to the scientist Alan Sharpe.
KNIGHTS: Any Age Male. 2 Knights engaged in sword combat during a chess game. Requires mastery of a sword.
NEURO-Z’S: Any Age Male and Female. 4-6 captives of Seezer’s technology. Requires running.
MADISON: Under 12 Female. A child under the care of Acadia.
CHILDREN: 3-5 children of various ages under 12 in the care of Acadia.
Funding: As of now this is considered a ‘no-budget’ film production ($0-$10k), completely being funded by the writer/director to complete his first feature film. We are looking for professional actors wanting to build their resume, those who want to get experience on set, or people wanting to be a part of an ambitious film project. This is an award winning team and we want people to join who believe in the project. Each actor will receive a digital download of their screen time as well as a free service provided by the director to edit a professional reel for them if they desire. During the pre-production process we will conduct an unconventional crowdfunding campaign alongside our social media marketing campaign, to raise money for travel, food, equipment, costumes, locations and props.
